Mark Pugh

Chief Executive Officer

As Chief Executive Officer, Mark Pugh oversees the overall growth and development of Acella Pharmaceuticals. Drawing from more than 20 years of industry experience, Pugh has a documented record of success in identifying and capturing new business opportunities to build high-profit, high-growth corporations.

Prior to Acella, Pugh founded Alliant Pharmaceuticals, a pharmaceutical company focused on the pediatric market. Alliant, which originated in 2004, quickly grew to more than 120 employees within 3 years. The emerging company was purchased by Sciele Pharmaceuticals in 2007.

Pugh's leadership in driving Alliant's growth earned the organization an honorable mention by Catalyst Magazine as "one to watch," and Alliant ranked #4 in Entrepreneur Magazine and Pricewatershouse Coopers’ “Hot 100” ranking of the country’s fastest growing companies. In addition, Pugh was selected in 2005 as one of the metro-Atlanta area’s “Top 40 Under 40” by The Atlanta Business Chronicle, and was the runner-up for the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Pugh holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Auburn University, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Atlanta.

Harold A Deas, Jr.

Chief Operating Officer

In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Deas manages the day-to-day operations for Acella Pharmaceuticals. Deas previously held the position of Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Alliant Pharmaceuticals, and was an integral component in the company’s overall success. Prior to Alliant, Deas served as Regional Sales Manager for Genentech Pharmaceuticals.

The significant contributions Deas has made throughout his career within the pharmaceutical industry provides the necessary framework for future growth and sustainability.

Deas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina, and received his M.B.A. from Edinburgh Business School.

Philip Vogt

President

As President, Vogt is responsible for directing corporate positioning, sales force activities, promotional efforts and trade relations.

Vogt comes to Acella with more than 34 years of pharmaceutical experience. Prior to joining Acella, Vogt served as a consultant specializing in non-branded drugs, contributing with sales and marketing development. Previously, Vogt held several positions with ETHEX Corporation, including President and Vice President of Marketing for the organization, where he utilized his expertise to maximize market penetration and expand product offerings. Vogt also has held sales leadership positions with Schein Pharmaceutical, Inc. and Foxmeyer Drug Company.

Vogt received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University.

Jeff Bryant

Director, Business Development

In his role as Director of Business Development, Bryant is responsible for new product evaluation, project selection, and pipeline development. In addition, Bryant provides management and oversight for contract manufacturing.

Prior to Acella, Bryant was Senior Project Manager for Stiefel Laboratories, overseeing ANDA product development and growth of novel, brand products within Stiefel’s aesthetics products franchise. Bryant also held product development roles with Glades Pharmaceuticals as well as P3 Laboratories where he directed operational efforts for the company’s GMP manufacturing facility.

Bryant holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology.
